According to a study conducted by YouGov on behalf of the British Quality Foundation (BQF) and the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) Two-fifths of companies in the UK could be wasting both time and money by not doing enough to measure and improve their performance*.

The research also found that 38%* of employees do not think their firm measures the cost of errors.

Joe Goasdoue, CEO of the BQF, said: “Business improvement should be a priority whatever the economic climate, and UK businesses clearly need to do more to ensure that they are operating as efficiently as possible.”

Third sector organisations are to receive additional help to assist them in providing leadership and management training, it has been revealed.From January 2009, the requirements that relate to the government’s Train to Gain scheme will be relaxed making it easier for employees in the sector to access support.

Employees will also be able to access fully-funded level 2 and subsidised level 3 qualifications, even if the employee has already achieved recognition at this level.

Skills minister Lord Young said: “Third sector organisations play a vital role at the heart of communities. It is right that those who work for them have the opportunity to gain the skills they need to develop successful and rewarding careers.”
