Advance-PR Appoint Associate PR Director

Advance Business Corporation Ltd are pleased to announce that Sally Reynolds has been appointed as an Associate PR Director of its public relations and marketing division Advance-PR.

Heading up the Advance-PR division Sally is responsible for strategic marketing and public relations initiatives as well as client brand promotion.

Previously Sally has worked in marketing for over seventeen years and was Director of Marketing for Woburn Enterprises Limited responsible for marketing Woburn Safari Park, Woburn Golf Club, The Inn at Woburn and Woburn Abbey.

Executives Urged To Support Line Managers

Line managers must be offered more support to ensure they are able to motivate their teams, a new study has found.

Senior manager and executives are urged to make sure they are providing support to line managers who are starting to feel the pressure.

The study by consultancy firm Sirota found that employees who have a line manager that is not happy at work are more than three times as likely to become disengaged themselves.

Expert Warns Not To Use Recession As An Excuse To Make Staff Redundant

An industry expert has spoken out about managers who are using the current economic climate as an excuse to make staff redundant.

Brendan Barber, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, stated that while some firms are struggling and genuinely having to lay off staff, others are using the recession as an excuse to make “spurious sackings or redundancies”.

He continued, businesses which do this are hampering their own long-term prospects as they could be losing staff members with valuable skills.

They could also risk being taken to court if they attempt to avoid making redundancy payouts.

“Where compulsory job losses are inevitable, unions will work to ensure that they are fair, transparent and free from discrimination. Any firm that fails to do this could find itself in court facing unfair dismissal claims,” commented Mr Barber.

Research has revealed that employees spend an average of 11 hours a week using search engines to find information, only to be frustrated in their efforts.*
