Bad bosses can ‘increase heart attack risk’
December 8th, 2008Employees that have bad bosses are at an increased risk of suffering a heart attack, new research has suggested.
A recent study that was printed in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine journal looked at more than 3,000 men in Sweden over an 11-year period and the research found that there was a direct link between the likelihood of a heart attack occurring and management quality at work.
The worse a boss was considered to be, the greater the risk that an employee would suffer a heart attack.
This study is in keeping with other highly publicised research suggesting that workplace stress can have an adverse effect on an employee’s health.
