Sales Training Is Credited For Increased Bookings
January 7th, 2009When a large number of hoteliers are reporting disappointing Christmas trading figures one hotel has reported its most successful December ever.
The Cedar Court Hotel’s said bookings were up almost a third compared to last year.
The Hotel Manager Mr Cotton said a shift in marketing policy and a focus on sales training had led to increased bookings. “We increased our advertising spend over 2007, but only by about 10 per cent, so not drastically,” he said.
“We also carried out increased sales training focusing on Christmas sales and the sales team drew up a list of targeted companies that we wanted to book here which again paid dividends.”
“My belief is that to survive the current economic downturn, businesses will have to be even better than they normally are, and rather than cut their offering, actually increase the customer benefit, both in facilities, but particularly in service levels which we are also doing with increased staff training.”
