UK Firms Spend Over £38 Billion On Training
May 7th, 2008During 2007 UK firms spent a total of £38.6 billion on training new research has shown.
The National Employers Skills Survey 2007 which is published by the Learning and Skills Council was undertaken with c79,000 employers via telephone, followed by a sub-sample survey undertaken with c7,000 employers that had funded or arranged training.
It revealed that 67 per cent of employers funded or arranged some form of training last year.
The survey also showed that around half of employers have a training plan and more than a third have a dedicated training budget.
This investment in training seems to be making a difference, the number of vacancies because of a lack of skills has fallen from 25 per cent in 2005 to 21 per cent in 2007.
